Exploration of Highway Tunnel Structural Calculation Improvement and Engineering Practice
The Lecture of Science and TechnologyInnovation—Exploration of Highway Tunnel Structural Calculation Improvement and Engineering Practice, was held at room 1234 of the Civil Engineering Building at 16:30 on May 27th. Tian Zhiyu, the speaker of the lecture, was from Sichuan Highway Planning, Survey, Design and Research Institute Ltd., and Lin Guojin, Dean of Tunnel and Underground Engineering Branch of Sichuan Highway Planning, Survey, Design and Research Institute Ltd., Zhou Xi, Party Committee Deputy Secretary of the School of Civil Engineering (SCE), teacher Shi Ying, graduate students Ding Yao and Tang Rui from SWJTU, and postgraduates in related majors, also participated in the lecture.
In this lecture, Tian Zhiyu introduced the improvement and exploration process of highway tunnel structural calculation in detail from five aspects: limitations of engineering analogy, mistakes in structural calculation, exploration of structural calculation improvement, application of structural calculation process and case demonstration of structural calculation.
At the beginning, Tian directly cut into the topic and introduced the limitations of engineering method of analogue by taking an underpass tunnel in Anzhou District, Sichuan Province as an example. Soon came the second part, Tian carefully analyzed the mistakes of the load structure method and stratum structure method in theCode for Design of Highway TunnelandCode for Design of Railway Tunnel. As for the load structure method, there were 7 mistakes in the code, such as the lack of a basis for the proportion of load sharing under different surrounding rock grades, and the errors of some load calculation formulas.
In the third part of the lecture, Tian introduced three large-scale intelligent software for structural load calculation: MIDAS, FLAC3D, and ANSYS, as well as the structural load calculation software developed by himself. Then in the fourth part, he concretely listed some actual engineering cases to prove that the software calculation may not only determine the design parameters of the tunnel structure, but also may optimize the design scheme of the tunnel structure.
In the last part, Tian demonstrated the process of structural load calculation using his software. To everyone’s surprise, a case was calculated in just two minutes, with the calculation report being automatically generated, which won the applause.
At last, this lecture ended successfully with the questions of three students about the professional field and the patient answers from speaker Tian Zhiyu.
