Shi Ying, counselor for postgraduates of the School of Civil Engineering gave a special lecture titled “Safety Precautions and Academic Integrity” for the freshmen of grade 2021 at the Room 4318, Jiuli Campus of Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU) from 13:00 to 14:00 on September 17, 2021.

First, in his systematic and comprehensive presentation on safety precautions, Mr. Shi mainly focused on the following six safety issues that should be concerned in the study and life of postgraduates: traffic safety, daily life safety, activity safety, self protection in natural disasters, public order and accident handling.

During the lecture, the students listened carefully, interacted actively with Mr. Shi, and built safety awareness and developed emergency response capacity to deal with such problems.

Next, Mr. Shi warned that students shall have corresponding academic literacy and spirit, abide by the academic norms and must not plagiarize the works of others. He added everyone should try to be a law-abiding student. Meanwhile, Mr. Shi encouraged them to set up their own goals in academic research and strive for them.

The students set up their safety awareness by understanding the knowledge of safety guarding and made clear the principle and moral bottom line of not cheating and plagiarizing in academic research with a clear understanding of academic integrity. At last, Mr. Shi hoped that freshmen have perseverance and courage in their study, and keep themselves safe in life. This lecture drew to a close successfully!
