First of all, Mr. Yang introduced the 10 Codes of Conduct for Teachers at Higher Educational Institutions in the New Era, pointing out that these codes are basic norms for teachers’ professional conduct. And work ethics and style should be the most important standards for the evaluation of teachers. For a long time, the majority of teachers have valued their work ethics and stayed true to their original aspirations by being conscientious and meticulous in work, being dedicated to teaching and educating students, being keen on reforming and innovating, as well as serving the society. These teachers have made significant contributions which are highly recognized by the Party and the people, and they have gained respect from the students, their parents, and society. The seminar attached importance to formulating the professional codes of conduct for teachers, defining the professional norms for teachers in the new era and highlighting the bottom line for problem-solving, to create a high-quality teaching staff with good political quality and excellent professional ability.
Mr. YANG Tao gave further elaboration on the ten codes of conduct, pointing out that they are higher requirements for teachers to fulfill their work in the new era. Teachers in the Department of Geotechnical Engineering should be firm in their political direction: to be patriotic and law-abiding, help spread the Chinese culture, devote themselves to teaching and caring for students, act as role models for students in learning, pursuing the career, and improving themselves, and actively contribute to the society.
Finally, Secretary ZHANG Yingbin quoted some cases to reiterate the importance of teachers’ work ethics and style.
